Good morning and welcome to BugabooCity’s Wedding Week – a week full of wedding-related posts! Wedding season has begun and I thought it would be fun to share some wedding ideas and DIY projects related to the big day!
Starting out the week, I have some fun ideas for incorporating baseball into a wedding! Our wedding was never intended to be baseball “themed”, however once we booked our lunch reception at our favorite baseball stadium, it seemed appropriate to add some touches of baseball here and there.
Having our reception at a stadium was exciting for us and it offered our guests a unique experience. My husband is a huge baseball fan so it was a fun way to include him and make sure the wedding was about both of us! I added some elements of baseball here and there but kept it simple. There are a ton more ways we could have referenced baseball, but with the venue already a baseball stadium, there wasn’t a huge need to go overboard!
10 Ways to Include Baseball into your Wedding!
1. The venue!
If you want to incorporate baseball into your wedding, why not have part or all of your wedding at a baseball stadium! We had a church ceremony followed by a lunch reception at our favorite ballpark. It was an exciting venue that offered our guests a unique experience.
2. Save the Dates!
Referencing baseball tickets for either the Save the Dates or your invitations can be a nice nod to the sport. We decided to keep our invitations formal and have some fun with our Save the Dates! The venue printed them for us to look like real tickets!
3. Baseball Hats
4. Cracker Jack Favors
“Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jacks!” We did just that and had Cracker Jack favors for each of our guests. We added a paper baseball, with our names and wedding date, to each box with a blue ribbon.
5. Pictures on the field
I didn’t know taking pictures on the baseball field would be as exciting as it was! Our whole wedding party really got into it. We took pictures in the dug out and stands as well as some silly shots on the field. No heels were allowed, so we provided our bridesmaids with flip flops that matched their dresses. I wore white flip flops :)
6. The Groom’s Cake
7. Detail photos
Close up pictures of the rings, flowers, shoes, and invitations can look beautiful paired with classic baseball symbols. Our photographers, from Shannon-Wucherer Photography, came up with lots of creative ideas!
8. The Ringbearer
The centerpieces, simple or elaborate, are a great way to incorporate the theme. We only chose to do a few centerpieces as our dining space was pretty untraditional. On the few tables we did them, chocolate baseballs added a whimsical nod to our stadium venue.
10. The food
These are just a few of the ways you can incorporate America’s favorite pastime into your wedding! Tomorrow I’ll be back with a great DIY Wedding project tutorial!
