Good evening! With Thanksgiving later this week and Christmas coming up quickly, I decided to get our Advent Calendar ready for this year. For the last couple years I have put up a beautiful Advent Calendar a colleague brought back for me from Germany. It features a Victorian sleigh and is made by the Richard Sellmer Verlag Company, a German family-run business from the 1940s that is known for their Advent Calendars worldwide. It’s so beautiful that I don’t really use it or even want to open the flaps, so it is pretty much just for display. Now that Bugaboo is a little older I thought it would be fun to have a calendar we could use.
Our local quilting store sells these really pretty panels that are fairly simple to put together. There are instructions printed right on the fabric panel and it goes together quickly. The one I got is made by makower uk. It’s a great way to make your own Advent Calendar without all the work of figuring it out!
While I was in the Advent Calendar mode I decided to make a toddler one meant to be played with. It is so cute and I can’t wait to see him play with it! I’ll be sharing this calendar along with the tutorial and free printable pattern after Thanksgiving as part of my “12 Days of a Handmade Christmas” series. I decided to challenge myself to posting 12 DIY handmade projects related to Christmas and I’ll be starting this series November 28th here on the blog!! There are ideas for gifts, holiday parties, and home decorations with lots of free patterns and printables!
To add on to the excitement of my blog post series coming up, I just found out Bugaboo’s Monkey-Themed First Birthday Party is a finalist for this month’s parties over at Project Nursery! This was such a nice surprise. If you have a chance head over to Project Nursery and check out Bugaboo’s party along with the other wonderful parties nominated this month!
I’ll be back one more time before Thanksgiving, until then good luck with your Thanksgiving preparations!
