Skit skat skoodle doot! As a child of the ’90s, I grew up loving the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. When Bugaboo was born, I got my old beat-up copy out and started reading it to him. It has such a nice rhythm to it, the book immediately became a favorite of his. Now that Bugaboo is learning his ABC’s, he has become obsessed with the book and we read it several times a day. I got the idea to make him his own Chicka Chicka Boom Boom artwork inspired by the book. It was super easy to make, and with the free printable, it will be easy for you to create this fun artwork for your child’s room or nursery.
- 8 x 10 frame
- 8 x 10 paper – I used 110 lb bright white card stock
- Free printable for tree background
- Free printable of letters
Free printable is for personal use only and should not be used to create artwork to sell.
STEP 1: Create your Chicka Chicka Boom Boom artwork! You can use the free printable tree file and add the letters of the name you wish to create. I used Photoshop, but you could also cut out letters and glue them on.
STEP 2: Print the artwork. I printed mine on heavy card stock and was able to get a bright and vibrant print. I have also printed onto photo paper which has worked well.
STEP 3: Paint the frame! I painted the frame to look like the page borders from the book. I gave the frame two coats of the fuchsia paint, letting the paint dry in between coats. To create the dots, I dipped the eraser end of my pencil into the orange paint and dotted the frame randomly.
