As I’ve mentioned before, Christmas is my favorite time of year. I love getting together with family and friends and doing “Christmasy” things – baking cookies, making gingerbread houses, decorating the tree, watching White Christmas. I love it all and I love traditions, new or old. Growing up, my family, just like most families, had their own special traditions. My favorite was driving to a tree farm an hour away to chop down our own Christmas tree each year, always a blue spruce. I remember feeling like it took forever to pick one out as I was freezing in the snow. My mom would chop it down and we’d somehow get it on top of our Jeep. My sister and I would eat candy canes the whole way home. It was the best.
Creating a Christmas Family Scrapbook was the perfect way to put all of these wonderful memories and traditions in one place. We bring out the scrapbook each year and look at the pictures and laugh at our hair. My sister and I were known to rock crimped hair at the holidays! For this album I went in chronological order and included one or two pictures from each year. In the back I created a page with some of our family traditions. I look forward to making another Christmas Family Scrapbook for my kids with the new traditions we are creating with them. :)
Below is the tutorial for making your own Christmas Family Scrapbook and a free printable to go in the front of the book should you want to make one for your family. I love giving scrapbooks as gifts and mini ones like this one are perfect!
Supplies Needed for a Christmas Family Scrapbook:
- Mini scrapbook or photo album, mine was 6″x6″
- Free printable for the front of the book
- Decorative paper, ribbons, embellishments
- Paper cutter
- Adhesive – tape, glue or tape roller
STEP 1: Print and cut out the free printable title page. I have created it in two different color schemes. You can add your family’s name to the top – either on the computer or by hand.
STEP 2: Decorate the cover of the album! I chose to use a Christmas ribbon and some scrapbook embellishments. Fill the album with family photos and mementos and enjoy looking at them every holiday season :)
I’ll be finishing up the 12 Days of a Handmade Holiday this week, so stop back for more Christmas projects :)
