Happy Star Wars Day! May the 4th be with you! :) I figured this was the perfect day to share this fun Kid’s Star Wars Apron I made our nephew this past Christmas. We gave him a children’s cook book, Start to Cook by Usborne Books, and I thought an apron would go perfectly! Our nephew is interested in a lot of different things, but in the end we went with Star Wars in the hope that he wouldn’t outgrow it too quickly. Plus, there are so many great Star War fabric prints available, that it was easy to find great fabric.
My husband actually picked these two out. It was one of those Joann shopping trips where I’m texting him dozens of fabric images while he keeps responding with “eh, maybe” until I send the right one! He wanted to go classic Star Wars as opposed to fabric from The Force Awakens, but I think any Star Wars fabric would have been great! I guess that’s the difference between us!
I used my go-to kid’s apron pattern that I used to create my kids’ cooking aprons. Our nephew is a bit older than our kids so I adjusted the pattern. This was easy to do – I simply cut the paper pattern down the center and added 3″ in for the entire length of the apron. Just insert paper, measure and tape it in place. Then I cut the paper pattern horizontally, toward the bottom of the pattern but before the bottom starts curving, and added 3″ in for the entire width of the pattern. The pattern was then larger width-wise and length-wise and I was all set to go!
You can check out the full tutorial for making this apron by visiting my “Kid’s Cooking Apron” post. It is a nice double-sided apron pattern that is perfect for kids and easy to assemble!
Have a great Star Wars Day! I actually planned a fun Star Wars-themed craft for the kids and I to do today. They haven’t seen Star Wars yet, but since they own Star Wars T-shirts and became obsessed with the BB8 display in Target a while back, they will enjoy it! We may watch Rogue One tonight (after our kids are asleep!)- it’s my favorite Star Wars movie right now and this seems like a great excuse to watch it again! :)
