Good morning! Today I’d like to talk lamps! If you are anything like me you are always falling in love with things that are a bit out of your price range! Its hard not to! Luckily, there are some things you can try to replicate – they may not be exact replicas, but you can get the look for less! This was the case when I found out I was pregnant with Jellybean (our new baby girl!). We decided it would make the most sense to keep the nursery as is for the new baby and move Bugaboo (our toddler son) into a big boy room. It would have been fun to design a new nursery but completely impractical for us and not necessary. Still, I couldn’t help but want to add some new touches to the room.
A family friend gave us a gold elephant lamp, and the minute I saw it I was reminded of the beautiful all-white animal lamps I had been wanting! I especially love the ones by Jonathan Adler. The all-white look is so clean and crisp, yet soft and sweet for a nursery! His elephant one is my absolute favorite!
Here are some of my favorite all-white animal lamps.
So with these lamps in mind, I wanted to transform my gold elephant lamp into something similar. It was never going to look exactly like the lamps pictured above – my elephant is much smaller than those animals. However, I thought I could achieve a similar look. It was a pretty easy and straightforward lamp makeover. My husband sprayed the lamp with several light coats of white spray paint, and I added a white lampshade – done! I like the look of the lamp and I think it adds some whimsy to the nursery :)
What do you think? I absolutely love the all-white Jonathan Adler lamps I showed you above, but I think my $30 lamp makeover gives a pretty similar look for much less. Now, I just need to figure out how to add some beautiful embroidery to my lampshade like the Pottery Bard Kids’ one and I’ll be all set! :)
I’ll be back this Thursday to share another project with you! Have a good week!
