Good morning and Happy National Winnie the Pooh Day! Haha, yes, today is National Winnie the Pooh Day and also a great day to share with you my progress in planning a Winnie the Pooh-themed birthday party for Bugaboo! Bugaboo is turning 2 in March, and with the new baby coming very soon, I decided to plan the party in advance! I did this with his Monkey-themed First Birthday Party last year, and it worked out really well!
We settled on doing a Winnie the Pooh party a few months ago when it became clear how much Bugaboo loved Pooh Bear. My mom had brought a bin of my old stuffed animals (ones I couldn’t part with from my childhood) and in it was a Pooh Bear. Bugaboo latched on immediately and started taking him everywhere he went. It was adorable. I started buying him Winnie the Pooh books from the Target dollar section along with coloring books and stickers, basically solidifying his love of Pooh Bear. I always loved Winnie the Pooh while growing up, so it has been a lot of fun watching him love him also!
I started planning the party a while ago, just searching online and on Pinterest for ideas. You can visit my Pinterest board here! After I finished up with my Christmas crafting, I started crafting for the party. I’ve made banners, games, prizes, decorations, food cards, and have even gone so far as to plan the menu and create a shopping list. I also created the invitations in Photoshop and have addressed the envelops – yes, I like to be organized! This probably seems crazy to some, especially when the party is over two months away, but with a newborn I know I won’t have the time to do these things. Now everything is all ready to go waiting for me in my Pampers box :)
I thought I’d share with you the invitations since this is where I started. They set the tone for the whole party! The party is mostly classic Pooh, but there are some elements of the new Pooh that my Bugaboo is most familiar with.
I’m so excited for Bugaboo’s party and am a little in shock he is almost 2 years old! Wow, does time fly! It’s a relief to have everything ready to go. I’ll just have to take everything out and decorate! I’ll still have to go food shopping and buy my blue balloons the week of the party, but at least the decorations, games, and menu are prepped and ready! I can’t wait to share with you the rest of the party details…we’ll just have to wait two months until after the party!
Do any of you start planning a party months in advance? I never did before having Bugaboo, unless you count our wedding! Have a lovely week, and if you have time, maybe watch some classic Winnie the Pooh in celebration of National Winnie the Pooh Day! (The movie is on Netflix!)
