Good morning! I hope everyone had a great weekend! We have been in an all-out birthday mode here celebrating 3 of our 4 birthdays this past week! Jellybean turned 1 and we had a great day and a special family dinner. We are having a birthday party for her in March, combined with her brother’s. The combined birthday party works out really well for our family who travels to be here with us, plus it is definitely more economical! Right now Bugaboo doesn’t mind, he is just so excited to see his family. They’ll each be having their own little cake – if I can pull it off! I am really excited to try making their cakes and am hoping I have better success than the last time I attempted a birthday cake!
I wanted to share with you the invitation I made for the party! We wanted to do a book-themed party since the kids love books and reading. I decided to make it a woodland-animal book party and knew I would need an invitation to tie it all together! I decided to create my own! I wanted a bunch of cute woodland animals to be reading books in the woods and this is what I came up with! I did a watercolor painting and then scanned it into Photoshop to create the final invite.
Drawing it out definitely took the longest and a lot of erasing!
It really started to come to life with the paint! I was really inspired by a painting I found from artist, Francesco Quatraro, who had a little library in the trunk of a tree with books everywhere! I didn’t know what to put in the banner so it was left blank until the end. Once the painting was finished, I scanned it into Photoshop and added the invitation text. The small text above the banner reads, “Over the river and through the woods.”
I created matching food labels using the animals from the invitation. I have twig label holders left over from the Winnie the Pooh party last year, which will be perfect to hold these!
I’m excited for the party! I find planning for it is my favorite crafting project of the year! Bugaboo has been helping me with the games, which has been so cute! I’ll be back next week to share one with you which includes a free printable that is great for any time of the year!
