Good morning! I hope everyone had a nice weekend! I was able to get some sewing done while my husband played with the kiddos! The kids’ woodland-themed birthday party is next weekend so Miss Jellybean needed a party dress, of course! I absolutely love sewing for her and loved making this little dress! It turned out so cute!
I found the fabric at our local quilt store. It is Woodland Scene by Timeless Treasures. I love how it has all of the same woodland animals the party invite has on it! I used a McCall’s pattern and altered it slightly. I chose to do buttons in the back rather than a zipper. Doing this allowed me to cut the back of the skirt without a center back seam and I just put in a small placket. I also used a pre-made collar I had on hand rather than making one.
My favorite part of the whole dress is definitely the collar. It is a Florence & Eiseman collar I picked up a few years ago from a local fabric store. It has since gone out of business, which is a huge bummer now that I have a little girl to sew for! I’m hoping to score a few more of these collars at a Florence & Eiseman fabric sale that is coming to town this Spring! The collar was so quick to use and I think it really gives the dress a polished look!
I bought a coordinating green polka dot fabric to make the diaper cover out of. This fabric matches some Easter dress fabric I picked up last week – which means I’ll get to use this diaper cover twice!
I also have this really fun fox fabric I’m in the process of making a bib out of. I made Bugaboo a monkey-themed smash cake bib a couple years ago and I’m doing the same thing for Jellybean with this fox fabric.
I’m really excited for the party this weekend! I did attempt to keep things simple, but in the end I’m an “all-in” kind of person and can’t help but get carried away! The last big project I have left is finishing up the bibs. Luckily, they come together quickly!
These next two months will be fun here on the blog! I have lots of neat DIY tutorials from the Woodland-themed party as well as some fun Easter projects!
Have a wonderful week!
