Good morning! I’m back with another DIY project from our Woodland Animal Book Party! This fox party shirt was another fun and easy project I whipped together at the last minute. I took a lot of time making Jellybean a woodland-themed party dress for her big day. The fabric was perfect and she looked so cute in the dress. A few days before the party I decided it would be fun to make Bugaboo something special to wear too!
Boys are a little trickier to sew clothing for, in my opinion, so I decided to make a fun image I could transfer onto a shirt. I had some scraps of iron-on transfer paper left over from a show so it was perfect! I drew a little fox face with a party hat and added the words “Party Animal”. I scanned this into Photoshop and added color to it. Then I simply printed the image onto my iron-on transfer paper. I used a colored raglan shirt we already owned and ironed the image onto the shirt. My son loved the shirt, it was easy, and it didn’t cost me a thing – a definite win-win-win!!
You can download the fox image I created to make your own fox party shirt or onesie (file found at the bottom of this post). I sized the image to fit my son’s shirt. The image was 7″ tall for a 5T shirt. And yes, my son was just turning three lol. He is very tall for his age! :) You can size the image to fit your shirt or onesie.
I had some dark T-shirt transfer paper on hand and used that to print my fox image onto. I followed the instructions on the back of the package. When using the dark T-shirt transfer paper, there is no need to reverse your image so it is very straight-forward.
The shirt turned out really well and my son has worn it a lot since his party! We haven’t had any problems in the laundry. We do wash it on cold every time and turn it inside out, if we can remember. I didn’t get a great picture of the shirt at the party. Most of my pictures of Bugaboo from the party are a blur as he ran around in excitement! He was nice enough to pose for me at the park the other day, though. He thought it was pretty funny I wanted a picture of him in his fox shirt!
I’ll be back Friday with one final Woodland Animal Party post!
