Good morning! I am continuing to make progress in Bugaboo’s big boy room and this Postage Stamp Art is the most recent addition to the gallery wall! His room doesn’t have an exact theme to it. Rather, it is really a collection of things he loves – mostly centering on dinosaurs, books and space. Bugaboo has been interested in space for a while now and last Christmas my sister bought Bugaboo a set of hanging planets and glow-in-the-dark stars from The Land of Nod. They are so neat and he loves them! I made this space-themed pillow for his book nook and wanted to continue this theme on to the gallery wall. I found these postage stamps, Views of Our Plants, and knew they would be perfect!!
I have never framed stamps before, but it is, of course not a novel idea. A tutorial isn’t even necessary! I included a few photos for fun, though :) It took me a while to find a square frame that wasn’t too expensive. One day at Joann Fabrics, when I wasn’t even looking, I came across the perfect square frame on clearance for $4! Yay! I had to trim the matte board by 1/8″ all around for the opening to be large enough. The stamps look beautiful framed and Bugaboo was excited when we hung it up.
I have saved stamps from a lot of special occasions, like our wedding and the holidays, and now want to frame them as well! They look so pretty framed and I think they’d prefer that to being in the bottom of a box!
I am still working on filling up the gallery wall. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen me posting about the Storybook Sign I just finished up. It is perfect for the book nook area and I love how it looks above the little chair. Bugaboo helped pick out some of the places – he insisted we include Mr. McGregor’s Garden and Whoville!
I have a few more art pieces I am in the process of making, including this amazing Pirate Ship cross-stitch pattern from SatsumaStreet! I have so many projects half started; I think I counted 9 last week! That’s okay! I’m just happy Bugaboo still takes a nap…it may be short, but I’m getting pretty good at crafting at warp speed! I hope everyone has a nice week!
